To tackle an issue as pervasive as lack of women’s access to financial education and financial products catered towards them, Gullak4Girls hopes to act as a multi-pronged, grassroots initiative to engage with the issue in a manner that brings about real (even if small) change.
The project aims to engage with women from marginalized communities with the help of a partner NGO, through an amalgamation of approaches rooted in education, engagement with field experts, fundraising for lasting change, and possible scaling with the help of corporate beneficiaries. The project hopes to make women and young girls aware of not only what they can do for themselves, but also educate them about public policy schemes and government benefits they can avail to meet their dreams and goals.
Some of the specific ways Gullak4Girls aims to implement its pillars of education, engagement, and fundraising are the creation and dissemination of an approachable curriculum of financial literacy, sessions of community members with women from financial fields to gain insight into how to start their journeys, and the creation of an online fundraiser for the beneficiaries through the partner NGO.
